The Violin Site is featured in the Internet Brittanica Site as an excellent resource for performers and teachers for the violin. It is nice to see a site so rich in resources for a specific instrument, the violin. The Violin Society of America

Founded in 1973, the Violin Society of America is the premiere Society for all things related to the violin family of instruments. This Society provides a comprehensive body of knowledge and support for those involved not only in the Violin, manufacturing and bows,  but also in all stringed instruments; Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass and all of the bows used for playing these instruments.

The VSA publishes the Journal of the Violin Society of American as well as the VSA Papers. Both are highly prestigous publications serving the communities involved with bowed stringed instruments. I highly recommend you look into the activities of the Violin Society of America.

International Society of Bassists

The International Society of Bassists is the premiere Internet portal for all things bass. The Society was founded in 1967 by the world renown and virtuoso Bassist, Gary Karr. The Society provides a magazine, Bass World and a newsletter, The Bass Line, for its members.  Further, the International Society of Bassists offers the Online Journal of Bass Research. Additional Educational Resources are provided as is news and information on Bassists, Orchestras and other industry related news.

If you play, perform, make or simply enjoy the Bass, this is the place for you!

The Internet Cello Society

The Internet Cello Society is the Internet portal for all things Cello. Featured on this site is an excellent community of Cellists offering support, information and discussion on the many subjects related to the Cello. Also included are links to Cellists, Luthers, Publications, Teachers, Composers of Cello Music and many other resources of value to the Cellist. So, if you play, perform, make, teach or simply enjoy the music and sounds produced on the Cello, this is the place for you!

The International Viola Society

Headquartered in New Zealand, the International Viola Society is the main worldwide portal (umbrella organization) of Viola related organization in support of Violist, Regional and National Societies.

The American Viola Society

If you are a performer or a player of the Viola, you will want to become involved with the American Viola Society. Originally founded by Myron Rosenblum in 1971 under the name of Viola Research Society, later to be named the American Viola Society in 1978. The American Viola Society is the Premiere Organization of and about the Viola.

This organization provides a wonderful online community of Violists, Teachers and others involved in the instrument. With Chapters throughout the United States, the Viola Society brings the Viola Community together.

The Society offers its members The Journal of the American Viola Society featuring articles on technique, performance analysis, scores, Industry News, Featured Articles and many other topics of interest to the Viola player.

This is a wonderful online website and resource offering a wide range of support for the Violist.

Strings – Magazine

Strings – This is a wonderful e-zine in so far as all things related to the stringed instruments can be found here including a great listing of Teachers and an excellent, and new I might add, community of people involved with them.

The hard-copy publication is now a monthly magazine from the same publisher for the Acoustic Guitar Magazine and others, String Letter Press out of San Anselmo, California. The quality is high and the articles are fantastic.

One of its sister magazines for teenagers is Teen Strings. If you have young adults interested in learning, playing and performing with stringed instruments you will want to subscribe to this excellent publication!

Sound on Sound

Sound on Sound – This website and publication is internationally recognized as the bible of the hi-tech music recording industry. If you are producing music at just about any level, you will want to visit this website often. Included here is a comprehensive collection of information gathered over several years as related to music production. Also, they provide a comprehensive collection of links that is basically a who’s who in the music production industry.

I highly recommend this website and their respective hard-copy publication.
